4 dicembre 1956: la Scott's & Sons Ltd cala in acqua la Pibroch Glasgow, commissionata dalla scozzese Malt Distillers Ltd. Con un British Polar diesel da 270 cavalli e 160 tonnellate di stivaggio, inizia la sua gloriosa carriera per trasportare grano e whiskey. Grazie al genio di John Ramsay viene elevata al trasporto bisettimanale di merci e passeggeri tra Islay e Glasgow. La sua romantica storia con il committente scozzese finisce nel 1976 quando la Glenlight Shipping Company ne rileva proprietaria e il suo dovere diventa quello di servire la Marina degli Stati Uniti. La Pibroch Glasgow termina definitivamente il suo cammino nel pontile presso Keelkyle lungo N59 nella contea di Galway, dove ha incontrato l'obiettivo della mia Nikon per rivivere in questi scatti che vi propongo affiancati da quelli nati dall'incontro con un
piccolo peschereccio, tutt'altra storia ma medesima sorte. Giace appoggiato nella baia di Blacksod contea di Mayo, a due passi dal faro che scandisce ogni notte la sua solitudine.
Pibroch Glasgow and the red vessel
December 4th 1956: Scott's & Sons Ltd sailed the sea with the Pibroch Glasgow, Ordered by the Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd. With a British Polar diesel engine of 270 horsepower and 160 tons of stowage, began his glorious career to transport grain and whiskey. Thanks to the genius of John Ramsay biweekly began to transport goods and passengers between Islay and Glasgow. Its romantic history with the Scottish contractor ends in 1976 when the owner became Glenlight shipping company and the new vessel's duty is to serve the US Navy. The Pibroch Glasgow ends its journey in a pier at Keelkyle along the N59 in co. Galway, there it has met the lens of my Nikon and now is alive again in these shots I offer you.
In addition I show you some shots born from the meeting with a small vessel, another story, same destiny: it lies endorsed in the Bay of Blacksod co. Mayo, a stone's throw from the lighthouse which, every night, beats his loneliness.
